Welcome to all who worship with us on this Day of Resurrection. We are glad you are here to celebrate the good news that Jesus Christ has risen! He is risen indeed! If you are a guest with us, please see the “Welcome to Visitors” section on the back of the announcements. Please join us for Easter Breakfast served in the Gym from 9:45 to 10:30am.
We give thanks to the Adult Choir, directed by Scott Dewese and our Easter Brass Quartet (Kim Stephans, Joe Auty, Jeff Marcilliat and Mitch Serslev) for today’s special music.
Each week we lift up members of our congregation in prayer. Today and throughout the coming week, we ask you to remember in your prayers: Alan Kilbarger and Julia Stumpff, Claire, Sarah, and Reese; Charlie and Jayne Farber; Marge LaBrec; Ron and Cindy McMillin, Katie, David.
Encouragement Campaign Cards are available today during Fellowship Time. Please take a moment to sign them.
A RECEPTION FOR CHRISTINE MCKENNA will take place after worship on Sunday, April 23 in the Gym. She is leaving our staff at the end of the month to take a full-time position with the Agency on Aging in Bloomington, where she lives. Please come and thank Christine for her faithful ministry with us these last 15 months as our Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries.
ADULT NURTURE OPPORTUNITIES
There will be no Adult Nurture today. There will be a New Adult Nurture Class starting next Sunday, April 23: Just Eating? Practicing our Faith at the Table — Just Eating is a four-week course designed to explore the relationship between the way we eat and the way we live. This course has been designed by the Presbyterian Hunger Program to give people tools to help us ponder the wider impact of what we eat.
Join us as we use scripture, prayer and stories from the local and global community to explore four key aspects of Christians’ relationship with food:
— the health of our bodies
— the health of the earth that provides our food
— the ways we use food to extend hospitality and enrich relationships
— the challenge of hunger
The title of the course has a double meaning. We can eat as a mundane activity done without mindfulness, or we can eat justly and explore the relationship between our food, justice, and spirituality. Eating can be a vehicle for practicing our faith.
For more information about this course, please contact Susie Sawin-Johnson at rsgi.johnson@sbcglobal.net or 378-0906.

THE PRESCHOOL IS HAVING AN ALL SCHOOL LUNCH - Friday, April 28th. We are in need of helpers to make sure our food tables are filled. We are having a musical program and then a lunch. We are splitting into two groups and all parents will be either busy eating or watching their children perform. Any help from church members would be appreciated. The commitment is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you want to be in a busy, fun-filled environment, this is the job for you. It will be a wonderful way to meet preschool families. Please call the preschool office if you can help, 376-6277.
FIRST STEPS TO FORMING A PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE: At its March meeting, the Session, taking its first steps towards the formation of a Pastor Nominating Committee, decided this PNC would be composed of nine members. Although we must have Presbytery’s blessing (anticipated soon) before we can actually contact nominees, it is appropriate to gather names of all those willing to serve if elected.
Last fall some of you indicated your willingness to serve and those names are still in hand. Additional names can be placed in nomination by e-mailing or calling Nancy Howard (nancyh@fpccolumbus.org or 372-3783). In considering service for this important task, please know that the average time frame for a PNC is approximately one year to 18 months. Although it is an intensive and time-consuming service, it can also be a very rewarding experience that deepens faith and friendships.
ACKNOWLEDGING OUR CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND YOUNG ADULTS: Parents, please contact Christine BY APRIL 18TH AT NOON with any information on accomplishments, upcoming graduations (from where? with what degree?) and upcoming plans of your children. This includes all ages through college. We want to share with others the great things (big & small) that they are doing and to more publicly honor them. This includes learning to ride a bike, learning to read, sports and musical activities, college studies and scholarships, etc!
RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS: We are currently recruiting volunteers for:
I hope that you will prayerfully consider taking the opportunity to connect with and nurture the awesome children and youth of this church in one or more of these ways. Do you hear God’s call? No experience necessary…everyone has gifts to share! The experiences are guaranteed to be rich and meaningful. I’d love to explore with you possible involvement …please be in touch with Christine. Thanks!
